We are excited to announce a changemaker as our closing keynote speaker at the 2023 Women In Leadership Conference. Gretchen Carlson is a journalist, New York Times bestselling author, and internationally recognized trailblazer for women’s rights in the workplace.

In 2016, Carlson boldly went public with harassment claims against then-Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes, paving the way for the #MeToo movement. Her story has been told in the movie Bombshell and the Showtime mini-series The Loudest Voice.

She is a pioneer with unimaginable courage. She stood up to the most powerful man in her industry and worked in a toxic, misogynistic environment for many years until she took a stand.

Today, Carlson is ushering in a new movement as a co-founder of Lift Our Voices, a nonprofit organization fighting to eradicate forced arbitration clauses and non-disclosure agreements in workplace contracts that keep toxic workplace issues silent.

In 2022, the U.S. Congress passed and President Biden signed into law the bipartisan Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act, a law championed by Carlson which excludes sexual assault and sexual harassment survivors from being forced into secret arbitration instead of open court.

In December of last year, Carlson also helped pass The Speak Out into law elimating predispute nondisclosure agreements in the workplace for harassment and assault. These two laws are the biggest labor law changes in the last 100 years.

Even before her story was retold on TV and in movies, Carlson was no stranger to your screen, having spent over 30 years as a journalist. She notably hosted the Saturday edition of The Early Show on CBS News, Fox News’ Fox & Friends, and The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson.

Carlson’s talk will give us an understanding of the underlying leadership traits, actions, support structures, and stories that helped Carlson achieve positive change instead of accepting the status quo.

Carlson is a changemaker, and she’s just getting started.
